ME & BIRB #1 Uneasy cohabitation

Another set from Instagram story. The first image of a three-set for Phoebe’s Me & Birb in the life. I thought about doing full, desaturated colour pieces, with higher saturations at the focal points. But I ended up pivoting on a line-work heavy, but relatively clean look instead. Partly because I like lines, and I’m lazy 😛 Continue reading ME & BIRB #1 Uneasy cohabitation

A start

It took awhile, but I finally buckled down and finish a “fully” coloured, digitally too, drawing. As it’s better to have a deadline for anything (gotta finish something sometime), the recent illustration contest by Celsys (CLIP Studio Paint) is perfect for this, which also explains the SPORT-theme I dubbed for this drawing (otherwise I don’t really care about drawing sports). The resulting 5-day idea sketches during commune and 11-day inking+colouring (via trials and errors) in the wee hours after work created this…well, not exactly satisfactory (to me) but okay drawing I have below. Anyhow, it’s a start, and a rather fun and fulfilling one, of colouring for me. I really had fun doing colours (which I never did) in CLIP Studio Paint. The experience leaves me eager to do and practice more. I guess the biggest challenge for me now is to NOT BE LAZY and seriously get on with my projects!

V-Sport (2019-01-15), drafted in Procreate, inked, coloured and finished in CLIP Studio Paint.

Slowvember 2018 and Draw 50 Things

Taking it slow after the go-go drawing schedule of Inktober. Here’s a “mashup (?)” of some of the characters from the Inktober challenge. Considering that I figured that the only time I have to do this will be during the total of 40 minutes commute I have each day, I settled on this 2-room, look-through-the-windows style design (tips for lazy ass like me, wink*). I … Continue reading Slowvember 2018 and Draw 50 Things

Inktober 2018 – Finished, not Perfect!

Brainstorm – sketch – struggle – struggle more – cursed the limited 24-hr day one has – repeat. It’s been a busy year, but October – Inktober had really claimed the crown for the MOST HECTIC time of the year so far! If I have the choice, I’ll never try juggling a month full of animal experiments with a-ink-piece-a-day challenge. The schedule almost crushed me … Continue reading Inktober 2018 – Finished, not Perfect!

Design 100 Something 2015 Project

A project inspired by one of my favourite illustrator @jakeparker The entire thing lasted a little more than three months, and as it overlapped with Inktober (2015) I pretty much dedicated a portion of the designs during the October period to the event by narrowing the design motifs to “horror”. It was an incredibly fin project to do that left me wanting to do more at … Continue reading Design 100 Something 2015 Project
